Coastal Therapeutic Riding Program (CTRP) is the realization of a dream
of parents, professionals and caring people in our community.
CTRP is a non-profit program, teaching therapeutic and recreational horseback riding to children
and adults with special needs.
We began offering our services in 1999. |

|
What is therapeutic horseback riding? |
|
Thereapeutic riding uses the equine-oriented activities for the purpose of
contributing positively to the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social well-being
of people with special needs.
Therapeutic riding provides benefits in the areas of education, sports, recreation,
and medicine to individuals with a wide range of disabilities and special needs.
|
|
The rhythmic action of the horses' gaits relaxes and strengthens
riders' muscles and improves body tone, posture, balance, joint mobility
and coordination. |
| |
 |
|
|
Sitting proudly on the back of a friendly horse, riders experience
the thrill of independence for perhaps the first time in their lives. |
