Coastal Therapeutic Riding Program (CTRP) is the realization of a dream of parents, professionals and caring people in our community.   CTRP is a non-profit program, teaching therapeutic and recreational horseback riding to children and adults with special needs.   We began offering our services in 1999.
What is therapeutic horseback riding?
Thereapeutic riding uses the equine-oriented activities for the purpose of contributing positively to the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social well-being of people with special needs.   Therapeutic riding provides benefits in the areas of education, sports, recreation, and medicine to individuals with a wide range of disabilities and special needs.
The rhythmic action of the horses' gaits relaxes and strengthens riders' muscles and improves body tone, posture, balance, joint mobility and coordination.
Sitting proudly on the back of a friendly horse, riders experience the thrill of independence for perhaps the first time in their lives.
